Governor Tom Wolf is issuing another call to gradually increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Wolf says it’s more important now than ever for the state to raise the minimum wage because many workers on the front line of the pandemic are working for that much an hour.
“Over the past year we have seen how critical the jobs our essential workers perform,” Wolf said. “These are the Pennsylvanians that put themselves at risk to perform crucial tasks that we now know more than ever that keep our society running.”
Wolf is calling for the wage to increase to $12 per hour by July and then gradually go up by 50 cents every year until 2027—when it would reach $15 per hour.
