Governor Tom Wolf is set to veto an elections reform bill this week.
After passing the House and Senate largely along party lines, the new bill appears that it will be vetoed by the Democratic governor.
The bill adds restrictions to mail-in voting, allows for early in-person voting, and would require showing voter ID among other things.
Democratic Senator Jay Costa of Allegheny County says the voted ID issue is why he voted against it.
“This would disenfranchise voters across Pennsylvania, and that’s what the courts have said as well,” Cosat said. “And they have a constitutional right to be able to vote, and limiting it in many ways as being discussed here is inappropriate and wrong and something that we should not be able to do.”
Supporters of the bill argue this would help restore faith in the elections process.
