There’s still time for local organizations to receive state funding in order to allow greater access to the building and construction trades.
The state department of Labor and Industry is offering $5 million to expand registered apprenticeship programs that provide earn-as-you-learn opportunities for workers in underserved populations.
Single county initiatives are eligible for up to $400,000 in grant funding and multi-county or statewide initiatives can apply for up to $600,000. Qualified programs will support expansion into fast-growing or high need occupations as well as improve alignment with secondary or post-secondary educational institutions.
The deadline to apply through the Department of Labor and Industry website is Friday.
