Applications are now being accepted for fire companies and EMS agencies to make up for funding lost to the pandemic.
Senate Bill 1122 created the COVID-19 Crisis Fire Company and EMS Grant Program which calls for the distribution of $50 million by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
$44 million will go towards fire and rescue companies while $5 million will benefit EMS services. Applicants that received a grant award through the 2019-20 Fire Company and EMS Grant Program will receive an initial award equal to that amount with surplus funding distributed to other companies that meet the funding criteria and submit a valid registration.
Guidelines for this program have been posted and eligible organizations are encouraged to submit an online grant registration through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner website before August 7th.
