The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is expanding their ability to store cold foods.
The organization received a $1.2 million grant as part of the American Rescue Plan and will use it to help get more fresh produce to families in need.
Right now, they say around 30 percent of their food is fresh, but they aim to bring that number to 50 percent by 2025.
Pennsylvania overall received $11 million to help food banks. Locally, the Alliance for Nonprofit Resources was awarded just over $275,000.
