Gretchen D. Ehlman, 73, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 20, 2019 at the St. John Specialty Care Center, after a long and courageous battle against cholangiocarcinoma, surrounded by her family.
She was born October 5, 1946 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late John Shoup and the late Ann Hosak Shoup.
Gretchen graduated from Butler High School. She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Gretchen was the Director of the Re-development Authority and City Controller for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling with her sister-in-law to many casinos. Gretchen liked playing the lottery and watching football. Gretchen loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Gretchen is survived by her one daughter, Amy Sheptak; one son-in-law, J.R. Dickison; two grandchildren, Chelsey Rock, Coltyn Dickison; two nieces, Donalee (Bryan) Thomas of Butler, PA, Sally (Randy) Brown of Butler, PA; one nephew, Johnny Shoup of Butler, PA; and a number of great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Shoup; one sister-in-law, Peggy Shoup; one nephew, David Shoup; and one niece, Baby Peggy.
Friends will be received Thursday, December 26, 2019, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019, 10:00 am at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Butler, PA, with Reverend Father John Baver, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
