Drew Griffith made history at the Butler Invite Friday—and was just tenths of seconds away from breaking an all-time mark. During the inaugural Ed Hartman Memorial Mile, Griffith nearly broke the four minute mile, coming in with a time of 4:00.77.
The mile was part of the Invite’s 1,600 meter run—which Griffith clocked at 3:59.80, which is not only an Invite record, but the best time so far this season in the country.
Butler also won the boy’s 4×100 and 4×400.
Slippery Rock’s Levi Prementine won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.80 and won the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.30.
Butler saw more than 90 schools participate in this year’s Butler Invite.
