The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals 3-1 last night at PPG Paints Arena and have evened their Stanley Cup Playoff Series at 2-2. Jake Guentzel scored twice in the game and Evgeni Malkin added the other Penguins goal. The Pens were 2-of-4 on the power play.
Guentzel now leads the post-season in goals with 10. The Pens saw the return of winger Carl Hagelin after he missed three games from an “upper-body” injury suffered in Game Six of the Philadelphia series.
The Penguins travel to Washington for Game Five of their series Saturday night. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am will be 6:30pm.
The seasons ended last week for the Penguins minor league team in Wilkes-Barre and following the season, their captain Tom Kostopoulos retired. The 39-year old was a seventh-round draft choice, who appeared in 630 NHL games, including 79 with the Penguins.

Hall of Fame general manager Bill Torrey died Wednesday at the age of 83. Torrey built the New York Islanders team that went on to win four Stanley Cups in the 1980’s.
