Former Butler School Board member Bill Halle was back in court yesterday seeking a bond reduction.
Halle has been imprisoned since violating a bond condition in September of 2023. His lawyer argued that due to the lifting of a PFA and serving a full six months sentence, the bond set at $250,000 was too high.
Prosecutors argued that they are protecting the victim from Halle, who they accuse of grooming the victim. They also say Halle has already broken six previous bond violations.
Halle’s probation officer testified that they’ve never seen a case where someone contacted a victim twice when it was part of a bond condition.
The defense attorney also argued that the age of consent in Pennsylvania is 17 so it’s not up to the courts to decide whether Halle sees the victim or not.
No word when a ruling will come down from Judge William Shaffer will make a decision.
