Collections are now underway for the fifth year of the Hang Tough Stockings project.
The charitable effort seeks out donations that are stuffed in a stocking, which are then delivered to cancer patients in Butler County.
Sharon Schneider has been with the program since it first started.
“The first year we did this, we pulled-in 500 stockings,” Schneider said. “We’ve increased it every year, with last year bringing in 1,505 stockings. This year our goal is 1,750 and hopefully we can get there.”
Popular donations include hand sanitizer and chap stick, but Schneider says that donations of any kind are accepted.
Some stockings have had rolls of stamps and notecards in them so they can thank people for driving them to-and-from treatment,” Schneider said. “It’s just another way that someone can say ‘You can hang tough and fight cancer, and we’re here to help you and pray for you.'”
Donations will be accepted through December 4th. There are over 25 locations to donate. To learn more you can visit ButlerRadio.com
