Harley E. Flick, 75, a well-known Chicora resident, passed away late Thursday evening, April 21, 2022 at The Embassy in Saxonburg.
Harley was born in Butler on February 24, 1947. He was the son of the late Robert M. Sr. and Leona E. Hilderbrand Flick.
He was a 1965 graduate of Butler High School. Harley had been employed by Pullman Standard in Butler until its closing and later owned and operated residential and commercial rental properties in Chicora. He was a well-known manager/bartender at the former Landmark Hotel in Chicora. He was a Roman Catholic and had most recently been attending St. Patrick Church in Brady’s Bend. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era and the long time commander of the former VFW Post in Chicora, a life member of the Chicora American Legion Post and charter member of The Sons of the American Legion in Chicora. Harley was a member of the Friends of the NRA in Armstrong Co., RC Men’s Club in Herman, Happy Hunter’s Club in Fenelton, Donegal Grange, and the Chicora Moose Lodge for more than 50 years. Harley was the organizer and and co-marshal, along with his good friend, Renny King, of the annual Chicora Memorial Day parade for many years. Harley was the president and player/manager of the Chicora Softball League for more than forty years. Harley had been an active member of Chicora VFD and was an ambulance driver for many years.
He is survived by siblings, Robert M. “Bob” Flick Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Karns City, Randall Flick and his wife, Beth, of Fenelton, and Kathleen E. Elder of Butler; nine nieces and nephews, Robbie, Alan, Amber, Bobby, Abby, Anna Mae, David, Amy, and Cory, as well as a number of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Beverly and Richard Miller.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2-6 p.m. Monday. A service outside of mass will follow at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Kurtz, OFM, Cap., Senior Parochial Vicar at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, officiating. Military honors accorded by members of the Chicora and Brady’s Bend American Legion Posts will follow from the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong Co.
