Harold Jurysta, Sr. 77, of Butler, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 12, 1940 in Butler, the son of the late Carl and Nellie (Sebock) Jurysta.
Harold was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. During his time serving his country, he was aboard the U.S.S. Hermitage. His first job was with Slomer’s Esso Gas Station and then was a welder for Pullman Standard and Robinson Industries. He attended BC3 where he received an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. He enjoyed cars, stock car races and NASCAR. Harold was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates, Pens and Steelers fan.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Ann Jurysta, whom he married on February 16, 1963; a son, Harold Jurysta, Jr. of Butler; a granddaughter, Hallie Jurysta of Butler; a sister, Rose Ann Slupe of Butler; 3 brothers, Jerome (Mary Ann) Jurysta of Lyndora, Ronald (Barbara) Jurysta and Edward (Harriet) Jurysta, both of Butler.
He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Carl “Sonny” Jurysta, Martin Jurysta, Steven “Pecka” Jurysta, and Larry Jurysta.
Family and friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 9AM until the time of the service at11AM with his pastor Gary Brown officiating. Military Honors by American Legion #778, Butler Legion 117 and VFW #249 will be held directly after the service.
Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
