Harry A. Savisky, 95 of Butler passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born July 26, 1926 in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Alex and Pearl (Spearnak) Savisky.
Harry was a graduate of McKeesport High School. After graduation he was drafted in to the US Navy and served as a Radar Instructor at Treasure Island, San Francisco, CA.
After his time in the Navy, Harry attended and was a 1950 graduate from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Penn State, Harry was a member of the Marching Band and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
He was employed as an Electrical Engineer and Marketing Director for Magnetics of Butler, PA for 41 years until his retirement.
Harry was a member of All Saints Parish at St Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Butler, PA. He was a loyal and dedicated Volunteer for over 60 years with the Butler County Symphony Orchestra, including serving multiple terms as President for the symphony board. He was a supporter of the Arts and an avid watercolor artist. Harry was known for his hand painted Christmas cards, and they are cherished by all today.
He was a Loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed cars, traveling, dancing, music, playing bridge and his poker club for over 40 years. He was a daily crossword puzzle aficionado.
Surviving is a son and daughter: Gregory W. Savisky and his wife Loretta of Butler; Diane L. Sekelsky and her husband Alan of Warrenton, VA; six grandchildren: Jacob Savisky and his wife Ashley, Katresa Savisky, Jesse Savisky, Alec Sekelsky, Ellie Sekelsky and Ian Sekelsky; two great grandchildren: Hadley and Kenlin Savisky; also, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 18 years; Anne J. Savisky who died on July 8, 1973, and son, Harry Savisky who died on September 30, 1985. Two brothers and two sisters also previously passed.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will Celebrated on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 10:00 AM at All Saints Parish at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main Street Ext., Butler, PA 16001 with Rev. Fr. Nick Argentieri as Celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Butler, PA.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Butler Veterans Honor Guard.
