Air quality concerns have again led the state Department of Environmental Protection to issue a high level air quality alert.
A Code Red Alert is in effect for all of Pennsylvania today due to fine particulate matter and smoke from Canadian wildfires.
Officials say young children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions should avoid outdoor activities while all residents should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
At one point Thursday morning, the air quality was rated in Butler County at 250 PM2.5. That is considered to be in the “very unhealthy” range.
Air quality is likely to be impacted through Friday. More information about local conditions is available on the website airnow.gov.
