Helen C. Christy, 90, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Lowrie Place.
She was born February 15, 1927 in Meridian, Pennsylvania to the late Abraham Osmond Gillis and Lois Smith Gillis.
Helen was a retired cook for Butler County Daycare Center. She made beautiful wedding cakes for friends and family. Helen loved gardening and birds and was involved with the Myasthenia Gravis Support Group. She was a former member of Meridian United Presbyterian Church. Helen played bass drum for the original Meridian Woodpecker Fife and Drum Corps.
She is survived by three sons, Lorain Christy, Jr ( Pat Weber), James (Karen) Christy; Dwayne Christy (Heidi Holoweckyj); two daughters, Carolyn Christy (Charles Caraballo), and Penny (Dino) Bearer; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and one brother, Edward Gillis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lorain R. “Cy” Christy, Sr. and by four siblings.
Friends will be received Friday, October 6, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 1:30 pm at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Inc., 124 East North St. Butler, PA, with Reverend Jeffrey Potter of Parkwood United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
