Helen J. Fend, 86, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 14, 2018 at the St. John Specialty Care Center.
She was born August 27, 1931 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas Crawford and the late Helen Schroebel Crawford.
Helen worked for G.C. Murphy Co. and Brose’s Market, and was also a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the South Butler Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary. Helen chaperoned enjoyed chaperoning for the General Vagabonds Drum and Bugle Corps. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, sewing, bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three sons, Keith Fend and his wife Joanne of Butler, PA, David Fend of Butler, PA, and Brian Fend and his wife Elena of Butler, PA; four grandchildren, Garrett Fend and his wife Cristen, Amy Fend, Devin Savage and her husband Michael, and Lauren Fend; four great-grandchildren, Haylee, Mckenzie, Bernadette, and Robert “Bobby”; two sisters, Marie Miller of Butler, PA, and Joyce Norman and her husband Wesley of Tampa, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Fend, whom she married on January 14, 1952 and who passed away on August 11, 2001; one sister; and four brothers.
Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation.
Private Funeral services were held at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial took place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
