Helen S Grystar, 96, of Butler, Pennsylvania, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 27, 2021 at the Concordia at the Orchard.
She was born August 25, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Wallace and Susan Prexta Uram.
Helen was as a homemaker. She was known by her family and friends for her kind heart and timeless hospitality to anyone who came to her home offering warm food and conversations. Helen especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Church in Lyndora.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Edward (Judy) Grystar of Oakmont, PA, John (Carol) Grystar of Butler, PA; three daughters, Susan (Ed) Power of Virginia Beach, VA, Mamie (Rev. Steve) Ogle of Butler, PA, Patty (Rich) Esplen of Butler, PA; four grandchildren, Greg (Deanna) Power of Virginia Beach, VA, Rev. Ben (Amanda) Ogle of Butler, PA, Eddie Grystar of Oakland, CA, Hannah (Rev. John) Allen of Virginia Beach, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Warren Ogle, Haleigh Ogle, Asher Allen, Adrielle Allen, Selah Allen, Jake Power, and Aiden Power; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Grystar, who passed away in 1977; one sister, Marie Maxin; four brothers, William Uram, Mitchell Uram, John Uram, and Nick Uram.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, June 1st, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service following at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA, with her grandson, Pastor Ben Ogle, officiating
Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
