High School Sports:
WPIAL Boys Soccer Playoffs:
–North Catholic defeated Charleroi 4-2 in the 2A Semifinals. The Trojans will meet Quaker Valley Thursday in the championship game at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh. The match will begin at 6pm.
–The Slippery Rock Boys were knocked out of the District 10 playoffs following a 2-0 loss to Fairview in the 3A Semifinals. Grove City will meet Fairview for the D-10 title after defeating Seneca 5-1 in the other Semifinal.
Tonight –
–The Seneca Valley Boys will face Fox Chapel at North Allegheny high school in the WPIAL 4A Semifinals. The match begins at 8pm.
Girls Soccer:
–Seneca Valley defeated Fox Chapel 1-0 to reach the 4A championship game. The Raiders will face Moon at Highmark Stadium Thursday at 8pm. Natalie Matthews scored the only goal of the game. It was the only goal Fox Chapel had allowed in the post-season. Seneca Valley coach Mark Perry earned his 600th career win in the victory.
The Slippery Rock Girls fell to Villa Maria 5-1 in the District 10 2A Semifinals.
Tonight –
–The Mars Girls will meet Montour at Ambridge high school in the 3A Semifinals.
–North Catholic will face Shady Side Academy in the 2A Semifinals at North Allegheny high school beginning at 6pm.
WPIAL Girls Volleyball Playoffs:
–Freeport will meet Armstrong at Gateway high school beginning at 7:30pm in the 3A Semifinals.
–North Catholic will face Seton LaSalle at North Allegheny high school in the 2A Semifinals at 7:30pm.
The Freeport Hockey team defeated Moon 5-4 last night. Marcus Trask led the Yellow Jackets with four points and two goals.
