High School Sports from Thursday:
Girls Basketball:
–Knoch defeated Derry 63-27. Neveah Ewing led Knoch with 22 points. Madilyn Boyer added 20.
–Butler defeated Penn-Trafford 48-27. Sarayne Forbes and Makenna Maier led the Golden Tornado with 15 points a-piece.
–North Catholic defeated Mohawk 54-38, in a battle of the top two-ranked teams in Class 3A last night. The Trojanettes improved to 8-1 overall, and a perfect 5-0 in section play. Mohawk fell to 9-2 overall, and 4-1 in their section. Mohawk won the Class 3A WPIAL title last season, while North Catholic won the Class 4A title, but moved down to 3A this season.
–Freeport defeated Burrell 40-33. Melaina DeZort led Freeport with 23 points.
–Pine-Richland edged Seneca Valley 39-38. Olivia West led the Raiders with 22 points.
–Mars got past Indiana 47-45. Ava Black led Mars with 18.
Boys Basketball:
–Slippery Rock defeated Mohawk 52-46. John Sabo led the Rockets with 16 points.
