Girls Basketball:
–Seneca Valley defeated Butler 53-50 in overtime. Madie Karchut led the Raiders with 24 points. Alison Altman led Butler with 18.
–North Catholic defeated Knoch 78-47. Kylee Lewandowski and Tess Myers had 17 points each to lead North Catholic. Neveah Ewing had 17 to lead Knoch.
–Freeport-71 Indiana-57. Harley Holloway led the Yellow Jackets with 21. Samantha Clark and Sidney Shemanski added 14 points each. Shemanski topped the 1,000 point mark in her career during the game.
Knoch will play a Saturday afternoon game against Fairview at North Allegheny high school. Tip-off is 4:30pm. Hear the game on WISR with Scott Briggs beginning at 4:15pm.
The Mars Boys will host Hampton tonight – the Planets need a victory or a Shaler loss to win their section outright. It is part of a Girls-Boys doubleheader at Mars high school tonight.
WBUT will carry the Trib-Live Sports Network WPIAL Basketball Pairing Show Tuesday at 7pm.
On the Boys side – Butler, Knoch, Mars and North Catholic have qualified for the post-season.
On the Girls side – Seneca Valley, North Catholic, Knoch, Freeport and Mars are in.
PIAA Team Wrestling Playoffs:
–WPIAL 3A runner-up Seneca Valley defeated District-6 champion State College 34-29 in the First Round last night. The Raiders will meet Nazareth in the quarterfinals today. Nazareth is considered the top-ranked 3A team in the state.
