The Butler High Girl’s Track & Field team won the Butler Invitational Friday night for the third year in a row! They topped the 72 team field with 70 points. North Allegheny was the runner up with 50. Jena Reinheimer was the MVP of the Field with a first place finish in the discus throw and a third place finish in the shot put. The 4×800 meter relay team of Chesna Tomko, Maggie Welty, Gabby Boden and Liz Simms started the meet with first place finish, Chesna Tomko earned the gold medal in the 300 hurdles and the 4×400 meter relay team of Tomko, Maddie Tonini, Boden and Simms wrapped up the meet with a first place finish. In the 400, Liz Simms placed second with Maddie Tonini in sixth. The 4×100 relay team of Tomko, Boden, Tonini and Emma Stewart placed fifth.
Over 1700 athletes competed in the Butler Invitational Friday. The Butler Boys had many outstanding performances. Noah Beverage shattered the 40 year old mile record by running
the 9th best time in the nation of 4:12. Jake Wolfrum won the 300M Hurdles in 38.92. This outstanding time ranks #2 on the School District top 10. Sophomore Sammie Tauofik won the
high jump by jumping a WPIAL best of 6’5″. The 3200M Relay team of Doug Kostalansky,
Aden Dressler, Skyler Vavro, & Rob Hayes beat an outstanding field of teams to win the gold medal. Many other athletes turned in outstanding performances in this elite meet.
The team meets Seneca Valley this week at the Butler Stadium for their WPIAL AAA, Section 3 final meet.

Butler Girls Lacrosse beat Villa Maria Academy 11-10 in Erie on Saturday. They were led by Eliza Drohan with 6 goals, Riley Cranmer and Haley Knass (Nass) with 2 goals, and Maggie Fugh with one goal. This is their third win in the past four games. They team plays the Shaler Titans today at Art Bernardi Stadium in a Section game which starts at 7:00p.
