High School Sports:
Girls Golf:
–Butler’s Paige Scott finished fifth at the WPIAL Class 3A Individual championship Wednesday at Diamond Run Golf Club in Sewickley. Scott finished with an 81, five strokes behind eventual winner Isabella Walter of North Allegheny. Walter matched Nina Busch of Fox Chapel with a 76, then defeated Busch on the second hole for the championship. Scott and six other top finishers move on to the PIAA Western Regional at Tom’s Run Golf Course October 15th.
Senior Madie Smithco of North Catholic missed the PIAA 2A Golf championship due to illness according to Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She had been the two-time defending champion.
The Knoch Tennis Doubles team of Ally Bauer and Libby Conlon reached the championship match of the WPIAL 2A tournament. Bauer and Conlon defeated a duo from Keystone Oaks 10-2 in the First Round. They defeated Kelli Huffman and Margo Silverman of Neshannnock 10-5 in the quarterfinals, then won a three-set match in the semifinals. Bauer and Conlon will meet Kasey and Paige Storkel of Greensburg Salem in the title match.

The Butler County Community College Women’s Volleyball team defeated Pitt-Titusville 3-0 last evening. The Lady Pioneers improved to a perfect 7-0 in conference play, and are 12-2 overall. Morgan Malinski had 26 assists for BC3. Kaylee Ebbert had six kills and 14 digs. Makenzie McDowell had six kills and 13 digs. Maddy McAnich had 21 digs.
