High School Sports scores from Monday:
The Knoch girls tennis team have reached the WPIAL Class 2A championship after a 5-0 win over Beaver in the semifinals Monday. The Knights will meet Sewickley Academy in the championship.
Girls Soccer:
–Butler-6 North Hills-0. Samantha Miller and Leah Deal scored twice for the Golden Tornado in their final regular season game.
–North Allegheny handed Seneca Valley their first loss of the season with a 1-0 victory last night. The win gives the Tigers the Class 4A Secton-1 title over the Raiders. North Allegheny improved to 17-1 overall and 13-1 in section play. Seneca Valley fell to 12-1-2 overall, and 11-1-2 in the section.
–Mars defeated Obama Academy 10-0 to win their 13th consecutive section title. Piper Coffield led Mars with a hat trick. Meagan Williams scored twice. Mars is now 14-0 this season and went 12-0 in Class 3A, Section-3.
–Freeport-6 Highlands-1.
–Knoch-3 Deer Lakes-1.
–North Catholic-5 Beaver-3.
Boys Soccer:
–Seneca Valley completed a perfect regular season with a 2-1 win over North Allegheny. The Raiders are now 16-0-1 overall, and went 13-0-1 in section-play.
–North Catholic-3 Armstrong-1.
PIAA Golf Championships:
–Slippery Rock’s Jacob Wolak is sixth overall after the opening round of the Class 2A Individual Championships at Penn State. He shot even par 72 Monday.
–Butler’s Hunter Swidzinski is tied for 11th overall after a 1-over 73 in the Class 3A tournament.
Hockey:
–Butler fell to Penn-Trafford 5-2 during a “Pink Out” game at the Frozen Pond. Butler scored twice on power plays during the game. Golden Tornado goals were scored by Jack Johnson and Grant Holt. EJ Delaney stopped 40 of 45 shots in net. Butler will travel to the Mt. Lebanon Ice Center Monday to face-off against South Fayette.
