Boys Basketball:
–Butler defeated North Allegheny 73-55. Ethan Morton led Butler with 35 points.
–Pine-Richland defeated Central Catholic 78-65.
Butler and Central Catholic are now in first place in Section One of Class 6A at 8-2. Pine-Richland is 7-2.
–Seneca Valley defeated Shaler 41-39.
–Moon topped Knoch 72-63.
–Freeport-80 Yough-38. Ben Beale led the Yellow Jackets with 21.
–Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic defeated Brentwood 61-31.
–Gateway-55 Armstrong-33.
Girls Basketball:
–AC Valley defeated Moniteau 56-37. The Falcons all-time scoring leader Ellie Thompson scored a game-high 20 points, as AC Valley swept the season series. The win also gave the Falcons sole possession of first place in the KSAC-South. AC Valley is now 14-4 overall, and 6-1 in league-play. Moniteau fell to 10-8/5-2.
–Keystone defeated Karns City 43-31. Karns City’s all-time scoring leader, Emily Hegedus, had a game-high 22 points. The Gremlins are now 9-8 overall, 5-2 in the KSAC-South.
The Mars Boys Middle School teams swept Shaler Tuesday. The 7th grade team won 43-17. The 8th grade team won 44-23. Austin Cote netted 16. They visit North Allegheny-Carson Thursday.
The Butler 7th grade gold team fell to Springdale 38-34. James Desmond led Butler with 12. Max Gianneski added 10.
Rifle:
–Butler defeated Plum 799-790. The win guarantees Butler first place in their section this season.
