High School Sports:
WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–Butler defeated Peters Township 5-3 in the 6A First Round. Butler will meet North Allegheny next week in the quarterfinals.
–Seneca Valley defeated Connellsville 2-0. The Raiders will get Bethel Park in the quarterfinals.
–Mars defeated Fox Chapel 5-0 in the 5A First Round. The Planets will meet West Allegheny next week.
WPIAL Boys Lacrosse:
–Freeport defeated Moon 7-6 in the 2A quarterfinals.
–Mars defeated Franklin Regional 16-1.
Mars and Freeport will meet in the semifinals Monday.
WPIAL Softball:
–Mars fell to Connellsville 15-1 in the 5A First Round in five innings.
–Freeport lost to Ellwood City 14-11 in nine innings in the 3A First Round.
–Keystone Oaks eliminated North Catholic 16-1 in three innings.
WPIAL Track and Field 3A championships at Slippery Rock University Thursday:
Boys–
–Jack Codispot of Butler won the Pole Vault.
–Sami Taoufik of Butler won the High Jump.
–Tyler Yurich of Seneca Valley won the boys 100-meters.
Joseph Kearney of North Catholic set a meet record in winning the 2A Long Jump. He completed the event with a distance of 23-feet five-inches.
Girls–
–Liz Simms of Butler was runner-up in the 800-meter run.
–Samantha Penrod of Butler was runner-up in the pole vault

–Seneca Valley defeated by Latrobe 3-0 in the 3A quarterfinals.
–OLSH eliminated North Catholic 3-2 in the 2A quarterfinals.
