The Butler Boys and Girls Track teams swept the “combined title” at the Baldwin Invitational Friday. The event featured 84 schools.. The Butler girls placed first overall and the boys third.
Noah Beveridge had a dominating performance in winning the 3200 meter run, winning by more than 15 seconds, posting one of the fastest times in the state this year. The Butler girls were led by Maggie Welty who broke the 1600 meter record, previously set by Danica Snyder in 2011 at the state meet. Liz Simms won the 800 meter run and Jena Reinheimer won the discus.
Both teams are competing in the WPIAL Championships today at Baldwin.

Both time above in the 1600 meters would of been faster but the huge storm broke out right in the middle of this race and the last lap the ran and wind was pelting these kids hard)

The Slippery Rock University baseball team were swept by Gannon in a doubleheader Saturday in Erie. The Rock split a doubleheader with Gannon in Butler Friday. The Rock ends their season second overall to Mercyhurts in the PSAC-West. They will begin the PSAC Tournament Wednesday against Bloomsburg in Johnstown. The Rock is 29-17 overall this season, and ended the PSAC-West with a 19-9 record.
