A local organization has been chosen to receive a grant from a Pittsburgh-based foundation that supports heritage tourism.
Historic Harmony has announced that they have been awarded a $4,000 matching grant by Rivers of Steel.
This money will be used to finish the interior of the Visitors Information Cabin on Main Street. The local match portion of the project from Historic Harmony will use volunteer labor, donated flooring materials, and support from Harmony Borough.
Although Historic Harmony has 14 months to complete the project, the plan is to finish it once the weather gets warmer between March and October. Volunteers are needed for a series of work days to remove the existing subfloor as well as install treated plywood, hardwood, solar lighting, and a beadboard ceiling.
