After hearing from representatives of the Butler County Historical Society, Butler City Council is in no hurry to take action concerning their Bantam Jeep.
Director of the historical society Pat Collins and Board President Andrew Menchyk, Jr. addressed the city board Tuesday night about the Jeep, which is owned by the city but cared for and maintained by the Historical Society.
According to Menchyk, the board recently met with representatives of Butler’s annual Jeep Fest and the groups reached an understanding to work together. The Jeep will be made available for all future Jeep Festivals and in return, the Jeep Festival will help with funding and other assistance.
Last month, the president of a local antique car club told city council that the jeep was no longer functional or available. He asked council to reclaim the vehicle and turn it over to his organization for care in the future.
