Republicans in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives have announced the start of an investigation into how the administration of Governor Tom Wolf has handled nursing homes during the pandemic.
The House Government Oversight Committee will undertake the task when the state House returns to session in an effort to get answers to questions from families about how the state directed COVID-19 to be controlled in senior and other long-term care facilities.
Republicans maintain that “data reporting remains conflicting and incomplete and questions remain about a Department of Health order requiring nursing home readmissions from hospitals of COVID-19 positive patients”.
Roughly half of all COVID-19 deaths in Pennsylvania have been attributed to nursing home residents or transmission that occurred in a long-term care facility.
