The Butler County Humane Society has decided to isolate a section of cats that will not be able to be seen this week.
The cat sections of the facility will be deep cleaned in order to eliminate the Panleukopenia virus, which is contagious and potentially fatal to unvaccinated cats and kittens.
Two cats tested positive over the weekend and will be quarantined for at least two weeks with the other cats strictly monitored so the virus will not be spread to the public.
Symptoms include vomiting, lethargy, lack of appetite, change in urine or feces, or an overall change in mood or behavior. Cat owners should make sure their felines are fully vaccinated and reduce chances of exposure by keeping cats indoors as much as possible.
