Lines for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank distribution were so long this morning at Alameda Park, that organizers began giving away food an hour early.
Hundreds of vehicles lined up this morning as people looking for a little relief during the coronavirus pandemic.
Officials say they had enough food for 1,000 cars, but were on schedule to run out of supply around noon. The event was originally scheduled to 2 p.m.
Within an hour, cars were bumper-to-bumper all through Alameda Park and well past the intersection of New Castle and Remil Drive near the Skate Castle.
Sandra Curry of the community partnership says that if someone didn’t get food today, or is a shut-in, that they should call her at 724-931-3100.
