A new hunting license season is underway.
The price remains the same as last year at just above $20 for a general license. That includes buck and turkey tags.
However, hunting is not as popular as it once was in Pennsylvania.
Travis Lau of the Pennsylvania Game Commission says the number of hunters is down across the state.
“They’re just aren’t the number of hunters filling in to replace those that are aging out,” Lau said. “We do have an aging hunter base. There’s something to be said about that long-term decline from a management standpoint, there may be some adjustments made down the road.”
Back in 1982, there were over 1.2 million people who had a hunting license. That number last year as at 860,000.
