State Police have released information on an I-79 accident that happened on Friday (8/7).
According to the police report, the incident happened around 5:30am near mile marker 92 in Lancaster Township —which is near the Portersville area.
Officials say a car driven by 20-year-old Gordon Yoder, of Portersville, was heading southbound when the vehicle hit a guard rail on the right side of the road. The car continued to cross all lanes of traffic and into the median when it overturned. It proceeded to slide on its roof into the northbound lanes. The vehicle then was struck by a second vehicle, driven by 58-year-old James Russell of Bentleyville, PA. Yoder’s car final stopped after it went into a ditch.
Yoder sustained serious injuries. Russell sustained minor injuries.
Officials say Yoder was charged with careless driving.
