Independence Health System officials say a new technology is helping doctors identify lung cancer early.
Butler Memorial Hospital’s Advanced Lung Center is seeing progress with a new CT scanner they installed last summer.
The machine takes two separate x-rays and uses 4D imaging to create accurate pictures with lower radiation exposure, while its freeze-motion technology captures images in just one second, benefitting patients who have trouble holding their breath.
These scans can help find lung cancer early, even in people without symptoms, so the American Lung Association recommends annual screenings for those at high-risk.
