A local lawmaker will convene a public hearing later today to hear information about the impact of the state joining a carbon-tax emissions program.
State Representative and Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Chairman Daryl Metcalfe will lead the hearing in Harrisburg beginning at 1 p.m.
This hearing will include presentations from representatives of various companies, organizations, and unions. According to Metcalfe, participation in a program like the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative could reduce by more than 30% the state’s current energy generation capacity as well as eliminate thousands of jobs, and increase electricity prices.
This hearing will be streamed live online through Metcalfe’s website.
