The FBI says the prevalence of internet crimes continues to grow.
According to their annual report, the public filed more than 27,000 complaints about cyber-crimes.
The FBI estimated that residents in the state lost over $400 million due to online scams. They say people older than 60 suffered the most losses at more than $150 million.
The top cyber-crime was phishing/spoofing, when a scammer pretends to be someone else.
The FBI says if you’re a victim of a cyber-crime, you should contact either the FBI or local police.
