Five Butler County public school districts have decided to cancel school for Friday due to poor road conditions associated with some morning snow.
The Freeport, Karns City, Seneca Valley, South Butler and Mars school districts are closed for Friday.
It was just 5 degrees in the city of Butler at 6 a.m. Friday, but that was better than the –7 we had on Thursday morning.
Light snow was falling, but forecasters only expect it to leave behind a half inch or less in Butler County. Areas to our south are expected to get much more.
A high near 18 is forecasted for Friday, with a low of 12. But expect a big break this weekend as temperatures should hit near 40 on Saturday and near 50 on Sunday. As of now, the National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh is forecasting Monday’s weather as mostly sunny and a high near 56.
Aside from a couple of school closures, some other public and private schools did also decide to delay the start of classes Friday morning.
