County commissioners are approving more medical services and staff at the Butler County Prison.
A revised contract with an independent healthcare contractor was revised to add more members to their staff.
County officials say this will give the prison around the clock services to inmates who need medical care.
The revised agreement added another $250,000 per year to the contract, but county commissioners say having care inside the prison eliminates the need and cost of sending inmates out for healthcare.
Commissioner Leslie Osche also noted that they are seeing a number of local inmates requiring significant care related to foreign substances.
