James E. “Jim” Anderson, 57, of Buena Vista Rd., Chicora, passed away Tuesday morning, March 16, 2021 at Butler Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
James was born in Butler on July 15, 1963. He was the son of Shirley Frye Anderson of Chicora and the late Clarence Anderson.
He attended Moniteau schools and had been employed at Oesterling’s Dairy Farm in Chicora. In his earlier years, he had attended the Concord Presbyterian Church in Hooker.
Mr. Anderson enjoyed farming and was the owner of three Minneapolis Moline tractors. He enjoyed watching old westerns on television and the company of his dog, Ossian. Jim was a long time patient at the Butler County Dialysis Center.
In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by his wife, Sherry Stroup Anderson, whom he married at the Concord Presbyterian Church in Hooker on January 15, 1983. Also surviving is a son, James C. Anderson of Chicora; his brothers and sisters, Ron Anderson of Petrolia, Paul Anderson and his wife, Diane, of Karns City, Barb Michaels and her husband, Denny, of Bruin, Brenda Schrecengost and her husband, Jim, Sharon Anderson, and a sister-in-law, Darcie Anderson, all of Chicora; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Marie Stroup of Chicora; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kim and Bob Flick of Karns City, Michelle and Pat Parsons, Pam and Cal Fry, Ken and Mindy Stroup, all of Chicora, and Theresa and Bill Bovard of Harrisville, as well as a number aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Anderson, a brother-in-law, Randy Stroup, and a sister-in-law, Marla Stroup.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City, from 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Robert S. Edmundson, pastor of the Concord Presbyterian Church, Hooker, officiating.
