James H. Lyon, Jr., 93 of Meridian, PA passed away on February 7, 2019, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries of Cabot after a brief illness.
He was born in Butler, PA on November 4, 1925 to the late James H. Lyon, Sr. and the late Cecelia (Texter) Lyon.
He graduated from Butler High School then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On August 18, 1951, he married Emogene (Heasley) Lyon. Jim worked for Nationwide Insurance, Pullman Standard and Armco Steel. He was a member of the Meridian Presbyterian Church and the #272 Butler Lodge F & A.M. Jim enjoyed traveling, boating, camping, hunting, music, and cars.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Emogene and their children, Diane Mitinger of Greensburg, PA, Kathleen (Howard) Meinhardt of Brecksville, OH, and James C. (Barbara) Lyon of Meridian, PA. Grandchildren include: Jennifer (Jared) Moore, Tricia (Brandon Weismann) Rombach, Laura (Michael) Stybel, Leslie (Kyle) Oyler, Brooke Lyon, James (Jace) Lyon, and six great-grandchildren. Jim’s surviving siblings include: Samuel (Shirley) Lyon of Meridian, PA, Alene Campbell of Chicora, PA, and Patricia Burkett of Mesa, AZ. Others include his Aunt, Grace Lyon, of New Castle, PA and many extended family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Jane (John) Bryant of Meridian, PA and his uncle, John Lyon of New Castle, PA.
Friends and family will be received Monday, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North St., Butler, PA 16001.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at the Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Meridian, PA with Pastor Gary Lyon from Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church in Leechburg, PA, officiating.
A private interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
