James J. “Jimmy” Meissner, Jr., age 62, of Herman, passed away at his residence on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024.
Born in Butler on June 8, 1961, he was a son of Mary Kathleen Moran Meissner and the late James J. Meissner, Sr.
He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, and he graduated from Butler High School in 1979.
Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service.
Known for his adventurous spirit, he traveled all seven seas and circled the world. Jimmy lived from Alaska to the Florida Everglades to Carlsbad, New Mexico.
He is survived by his mother, of Herman; two sisters, Christine Herbstritt and her husband, Jim, and Patricia Fair; and a number of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Along with his father, who passed away July 2, 2021, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Meissner, who passed away Oct. 20, 2017.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
