James “Jim” R. Swidzinski, 76, of Butler, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 2, 1945, in Butler, he was the son of late Adam and Betty (Kirk) Swidzinski.
Jim was a 1967 graduate of Slippery Rock College and became an elementary school teacher for 35 years with the Butler Area School District.
He was a member of Meridian Presbyterian Church in Butler.
He loved camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, gambling, watching football, and playing 500 bid with his family. He was also a lifetime member of the Butler Elks. Since his retirement, he and his wife, Barb, have spent their winters at their home in Melbourne Beach, Florida. He enjoyed when his family joined them there for summer vacations every year.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Shannon) Swidzinski, with whom he married on June 17, 1967.
He is also survived by his daughters Stacy (Michael) Ellis and Holly (Nate) Swidzinski; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Laycia), Amanda, Stephen, and Alayna Ellis and Jacqueline, Cortney and Natalie Jurecko; two siblings, Elaine Westfall and Dan (Cyndi) Swidzinski; brother in-law, Walt Cooper; and several nieces and nephews; as well as a large extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Cooper and Bob Swidzinski.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12th from 5:00PM until the time of Service at 7:00PM at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North Street, Butler, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
Jim will be greatly missed, and our fond memories will sustain us.
