James W. Snyder, 88, of Butler, passed away, Tuesday December 10, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, with his family at his side.
He was born October 6, 1936, a son of the late Thomas Snyder and Beatrice (Rainey) Snyder.
James retired in 2001 from the B&O Railroad, later known as CSX Railroad following 42 years. He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler and was formerly a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He had enjoyed, hunting, fishing, canoeing, reading, listening to music and talking with friends and neighbors. His love was for his family, also spending time with his fur baby and fur grandbabies.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa A. (Suchonic) Snyder, whom he married May 16, 1964.
2 daughters, Kimberly (Edward) Desmond and Jennifer Snyder.
1 sister, Betty Jo (Bill) Allen.
His loving fur baby, Riley Cooper, aka “The Pooh”.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Tommy and Bobby, also his sisters Maryann and Judy.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 east Cunningham Street, Butler, from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 10:00 am, at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue in Butler. Interment to follow in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Butler.
