Jaran M Benko, 43, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, in Butler. Jaran was born February 14, 1979 in Butler to John A Benko and Jody Smith (Benko) Beatty. He attended schools in the Butler and Slippery Rock school systems. He worked several years with his father in the construction business, doing carpentry, roofing, and general labor. Jaran enjoyed watching sports, particularly wrestling, and especially enjoyed the moments that he could spend with the love of his life, his son Jaizan. Jaran struggled many years with drug addiction, and often confided the horrors of it to his mother, who constantly attempted to help him overcome it. Although the battle has been fierce, he is now at peace with himself and with his God, as he had made a profession of faith to Him some time prior. Even during his struggles, he had an infectious smile and laugh that any who have met him will remember. Somewhat tough on the outside, he had a remarkably warm and caring heart, especially for his family and close friends In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Jessica Vozar and her husband Brian, John “Bo” Benko and his wife Michelle, and Jade McBride and her husband Douglas, all of Butler; a son, Jaizan Benko of Butler; step-siblings Rebekah Salles of Arcadia, FL and Jason Beatty and his wife, Allison of Mesa, AZ; his step-mother Karen Benko and step-father John Beatty, both of Butler; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Smith, and paternal grandmother Emily Benko, both of Butler. Also surviving him are a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Jennalee Benko, and his grandfathers Floyd Smith and Edward Benko, all natives of Butler. The family will hold a private service in remembrance of Jaran, led by Pastor Keith Kozic of Community Alliance Church, with his final resting place in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
