Jay Lloyd Sedwick, Sr., 88 of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, under the care of VNA Hospice at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
Jay was born April 10, 1935, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania to the late Jud Lloyd Sedwick and the late Rose Marie (Blanchard) Sedwick.
Jay was a 1953 graduate of Kittanning High School, then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon, graduating in 1957. In his early years , he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, first in Hartford Connecticut, then in West Palm Beach, FL. Jay also worked at Magnetics in Butler, PA. Jay was Chairman of the Board of Armstrong Holdings in Butler, PA. He was a member of Community Alliance Church.
Jay is survived by two daughters, Cyd K. Johnston and her husband Raymond of Butler, PA and Joy L. Moon and her husband Robert of Lima, OH; two sons , Jay L. Sedwick Jr. and his wife Laurie of Kennedale, TX and Dru A. Sedwick and his wife Trudy of Butler, PA; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, a brother, Damon Dosch, a brother in law, one nephew, one niece and two cousins.
In addition to his parents and sister, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda L. (Kuhns) Sedwick, whom he married on May 1, 1954, and who passed away on October 7, 2023.
A Memorial Service to honor Jay’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Rd., Butler, PA 16001 with Reverend Robert Thomas officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will gather to greet and receive friends.
A private burial will take place in the Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
