Jean Baxter, 89, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at home.
Born August 15, 1934, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Craig G. and the late Ruth (Thompson) Saul.
Jean was known as an extremely compassionate woman. She helped to raise her younger siblings and continued to lend a helping hand to them throughout her life. In addition to this, she not only raised her four children, but helped in raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean managed Baxter’s Mobile Home Park for much of her life. She enjoyed going to the casino to play slots and was an animal lover. Jean was single handedly responsible for feeding and spaying many stray animals that would venture to her home. Above all else, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who absolutely adored her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her four children, Debra Oesterling and her husband, Raymond, Robert Baxter and his wife, Saundra, Cindy Crawford and her husband, Dennis, and Ernest Jay Baxter and his wife, Amy, all of Butler; twelve grandchildren, Carly, Kellie, Jarrod, Cole, Cait, Megan, Caleb, Ryan, Michael, Anna, Cooper, and Adraya; six great grandchildren, Will, Emma, Carsyn, Mackenzie, Cleo and Camdyn; her brother, Ray Saul and his wife, Betty, her sister, Joan Schomer and her husband, Reverend Dan, and her sister-in-law, Eileen Saul.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Joseph Baxter, whom she married on June 14, 1952, and who passed away on February 21, 2015, three grandchildren, Dustin Robert, Landon Joseph, and Jayden Reese, five brothers, Craig Saul, Jr., David Saul, Bill Saul, Richard Saul, and Ronald Saul, and her sister, Mary Brandon.
At Jean’s request, she was laid to rest privately in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Arrangements were entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
