Jerry Huey, 83, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 16, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
He was born May 3, 1937 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Chester Huey and the late Ruth (Bulford) Huey.
A devoted family man and loyal friend, Jerry was always the perfect example of a true gentleman. He was quiet, but very witty and always had a great sense of humor. Jerry always put his family first. He never missed a concert, dance recital, hockey game, or track meet that involved his children or grandchildren. The arrival of great grandchildren brought him such joy and he would proudly show off their pictures to anyone who would look. A dedicated supporter of Butler High School football and basketball, Jerry and his sister Joan were staples at home and away games for many years. He greatly enjoyed countless fishing trips to Canada and the times spent with family and his fishing buddies. Jerry was a fixture in his neighborhood and could often be seen walking his much-loved dog Inky, and sharing treats with all the dogs they met along the way. Always concerned about the safety of his daughters, he would insist on driving them anywhere they needed to go at the first sign of inclement weather. In later years as his wife’s health declined, he provided her with the best possible care at home until that was no longer possible. He remained dedicated to her receiving the best care and visited with her daily at New Haven Court. Although saying goodbye is so difficult, we know all Jerry wanted was to be reunited with Sandra and to be together in Heaven. In true Jerry fashion, kindness to all was his motto and way of life. If you would like to honor his memory, we ask you do a random act of kindness and think of the smile it would put on his face.
Jerry worked for West Penn Power for over 40 years and retired in November 2002 as Operating Superintendent. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was very active over the years. Jerry also belonged to the Rotary Club and Habitat for Humanity.
He is survived by two daughters, Johanna (Steve) Napoletan, and Jeryl (Robert) Emigh; four grandchildren, Gabrielle (Rob) Parker, Jordan (Matthew) Jurysta, Zach Emigh, and Nathan (Nakia) Emigh; five great grandchildren, Rory,Gavin and Piper Parker, and Theo and Ivy Jurysta; one sister, Joan Masters of Butler, PA; one brother in law, Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Walborn, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Sandra Huey to whom he married on June 29, 1963 and who passed away on September 18, 2019 and one great grandson Graiden Parker.
Due to the covid pandemic there will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
