John A. Stoops, 95, of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 26, 2021 at his residence.
He was born February 20, 1926 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Arthur M. Stoops and the late Margaret McCandless Stoops.
John worked for 37 years at A.K. Steel Corporation retiring on January 31,1986. He was a member of Butler/Victory Lodge #272, and the New Castle Consistory. John enjoyed golfing, gardening and reading. He was a graduate of Butler Area Senior High School. John was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving in the United States and Germany. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America where he served as an elder and a choir member.
He is survived by his wife Reba Jean McCandless Stoops whom he married on April 21, 1949; one son, Randy (Donna) Stoops of Renfrew, PA; one daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Cessna of Santa Ana, CA; four grandchildren, Michael (Jaime) Stoops, Trista Stoops, Drew Cessna, Shannon Cessna; two great grandchildren, Taylor Stoops, Brielle Stoops; three step great grandchildren, Mason, Hunter and Carter; one sister, Marilyn R. Stoops of Butler, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother, Hazel Della Stoops, his son, Glenn Stoops, and one brother, Robert Stoops.
Friends will be received Friday, October 29, 2021, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, 11:00 am at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, 420 North Main Street Butler, PA, with Pastor Dan Ledford, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
