John G. “Jack” Turner, Jr., 35, of Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at UPMC Mercy Hospital of cardiac arrest.
He was born December 30, 1982 in Butler, the son of Cheryl (Fisher) Turner of Renfrew and John G. and Karen Turner, Sr. of Butler.
Jack was a 2001 graduate of Knoch High School. He entered the Air Force in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Program. He was deployed three times to Iraq, personally clearing more than 400 IEDs saving hundreds of lives. Jack was awarded the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star and numerous commendation medals.
Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister, Katie Haug and her husband Jarret of Chicora; nephew, Maverick Haug; uncles, Robert Fisher, Buddy Turner, Tom Turner and their families all of Butler; his best friend, Justin Conklin of Pittsburgh and an extended group of great friends and a brotherhood of EOD Techs across the nation and abroad.
Burial will be at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies for family and friends with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
