John Hindman Jr., 83, of Butler passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024. He was born in Butler on October 28, 1940, to the late John Sr. and Joanne (Bissell) Hindman. John graduated from Butler High School in 1958 and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. He retired from Armco after 37 years. John was the secretary at the William H. Miller Lodge # 769 and was a member of the Shriner’s for over 3 decades, he also was a past President of the American Legion Post 642 in Chicora. John was known for being a loving and great husband and father and would help anyone who needed it. He loved to golf, watch the Steelers and his El Camino, which he enjoyed taking to car shows. Father of Melissa Hindman, Dawn (William) Norton, and Vance (Stacy) Hindman; brother of George “Buddy” (Carol) Hindman and Dennis (Gertrude) Hindman; grandfather of Stephanie (Larry) Minto, Christian (Jess) Fry Jr., Joshua (Larissa) Fry, William Norton, Brayden Norton, Toni (Alec) Damico, and Greg Reddick; great grandfather of 6 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, of 27 years, Glenda (Bowser) Hindman who passed in 1990, and his second wife Phyllis (Young) Hindman who passed away in 2019; his two sons, John and Roger Hindman; and his siblings Eileen and Keith Hindman.
